Ice Beam Early Step 2 - HOTE W/O S'ball

Thankfully, this method is identical on all versions of Metroid Prime. This is also relatively easy to perform (in comparison to the consistency of the TBJ).

As soon as you have wasted that Chozo Ghost into oblivion, make your way back up to the ledge that houses the entrance to the missile refill station. From here, look to where the spiderball track is and turn right a little.

There's a disk here with a small sticky-outy-bit just below the rock ledge (see screenshots 1 and 2). This is we need to jump onto. So do a reasonably long and high L-Lock Space Jump onto the sticky-outy-thing.

Screenshot 1 - the View You Want. Screenshot 2 - Sitting on the Sticky-outy-thing.

As soon as you're up on this ok, lock your view up at the ledge above you. Space Jump up to the ledge, jump out then in at to ensure that you don't bash your head off of the ledge instead of standing on it. Once on top, simply bomb the slot as normal, activate the wavebeam slot and do go to the reflecting pool as per normal (see screenshots 3, 4, and 5).

Screenshot 3 - L-Lock Your View up to see the Ledge and SJ up. Screenshot 4 - Plant Bomb as per Normal Screenshot 5 - Chozo Statue Without Spiderball.

A video of this trick can be found below (just right-click the link, and "save as").

Now simply make your way to the Reflecting Pool. In here you can either drain the pool and boost up to the door, OR, you can do a funky Ghetto Jump off of a metal pillar above the first stone toad on the left to the door. To see this jump in action, check out the movie below...
