In 1986, Gunpei Yokoi (R.I.P.) and his team developed a software title on the Famicom Disk System that was to become one of the most
cherished game series in the Western world (the Japanese were never the biggest Metroid fans).
Metroid was the side-scrolling equivilant to Zelda. Get stuck, find a new item somewhere else, go back to the previous
problem area, and use your new ability to bypass it. A simple yet extremely engrossing design premise. While by todays
standards, it looks very basic, in '86 these graphics were top of the range.
