About Samus.co.uk

I've been a long-term major fan of the Metroid Series of games. (Granted, my first venture into the series was with Super Metroid, but there was no finer way to experience the pleasures of the franchise).

From there, I started speed runs on SM, finished Metroid 2 and gave Metroid a good "seeing to". The release of Metroid Prime is what really kicked my passion for the games back into play, inspiring me to create a site that would do justice to the series as a whole. With the Metroid Database lacking an insane amount of really up-2-date information as a whole, I felt that I could create a site that would be one that covers every single angle for every single game in the series.

Samus.co.uk is - pretty much - done by myself, It's hand-coded in notepad using SSI and CSS to take a bit of the monotomy of updating every page out of it. Started in April, the site has been a labour of love. Granted, it's been developed at a slower pace than many sites, but seeing as it's pretty much a one-man army, it's not too bad. The latest version was coded from scratch in Notepad in July and looks a LOT better than the previous versions.

Samus.co.uk is continuing to grow at a rapid pace with loads of new forum members by the week. In fact, it's Samus.co.uk's community that helps make the site what it is. The unbridled community spirit is second to none with a crazy amount of highly active and friendly members. I have a mate of mine to thank for the idea, known as tnman, the other Admin of the forum was the one who persuaded me to set up a forum on the site.

The forum currently accounts for 65% of all of the sites daily traffic, and with the site now reaching the height of 30,000+ pageviews a day, that's an AWFUL lot of people constantly checking it out. So much so the site is now spread over 5 servers which combined offer up 320 GIGS of Monthly Bandwidth and 13 GIGS of storage and the site needs every K of that bandwidth.

I'm looking forward as the site continues to grow, as already it has become one of the biggest Metroid dedicated websites on the planet. And with the upcoming release of MP2 and MP: Hunters, it'll only continue to grow... So many thanks to EVERYONE (you all know who you are), who have helped make the site what it is. A haven for Metroid fans everywhere. Thank you.
