Metroid Speed Runs

Here is where you'll find the direct links to the best Metroid speedrun for each category. The movies are brilliantly hosted on Archive.org so you should all pay this wonderful free site a visit. Special thanks also go to both Nate of Metroid2002.com and also to Radix of Speed Demo Archive (SDA) for converting the runs from VHS to a digital format. ALL of these movies requires the latest version of DivX to play properly.

Any% Run - 18:35 by Blake 'Spider-Waffle' Piepho
An energetic and very talented run by new player (to the Metroid scene), Spider-Waffle. Utilising all the latest SB and speed run tricks, this run pushes the Metroid boundary almost as far as it can possibly go. All self-respecting Metroid fans should download and watch this run asap...

The runners own commentary for this run can be found: HERE

:: Metroid any% 18:35 - Low Quality (26 Megs)
:: Metroid any% 18:35 - Normal Quality (85.3 Megs)
:: Metroid any% 18:35 - High Quality (647 Megs)

100% Run - 56:40 by Red Scarlet
A run for the true completist. While Metroid doesn't have an in-game percent counter (like every Metroid game after Metroid 2 has), the 100% game is still considered possible as long as all of the known items are collected and this has been verified. Red Scarlet pulls off a very impressive 100% speed run, made all the more remarkable considering it's a single segment speed run. That's right, no saves. Just ONE run from start to finish. And if THAT doesn't deserve some extra Kudos, then God knows what would... Well done Red Scarlet.

The runners own commentary for this run can be found: HERE

:: Metroid 100% 56:40 - Low Quality (72 Megs)
:: Metroid 100% 56:40 - Normal Quality (236 Megs)
:: Metroid 100% 56:40 - High Quality (1.75 Gigs)
