Suntower Without Spiderball

(Discovered By: Kyuenjin)
(Movie By: Kip)

This uber-cool (but annoyingly hard) trick is used to collect the artifact of Wild straight after beating Flaahgra. It essentially "triggers" the Chozo Ghosts to appear as soon as you make it back up the Suntower. This trick is essential in low % runs and is extremely handy in any % speed runs.

Be warned, this is NOT an easy trick, by any means. It's certainly possible, but it'll take a fair few tries (and a lot of repetitive Flaahgra battles) to get the bomb-timing and the re-morphing timing down. But all will be explained in detail below with screenshots and a movie of it in action.

.:Please Note:. The images below were taken with an Action Replay infinite energy code on, to allow me enough time to physically take the screenshots. This is why there's 99 energy in every shot (when you HAVE to take some damage to do it).

.:How To:.
Once you've slapped Flaahgra around, make your way to the top of the Suntower. When you pass the metal crates, one will ALWAYS have an ultra energy inside and some missile refills. Now, depending on how your battle with Flaahgra went (hopefully you'll have around 80+ health left or more than 1 e-tank full), then ignore it, otherwise grab the ultra energy from the TOP crate.

Now, this is where the fun stuff starts. Make your way to the edge at the top. Look to your right and you'll notice a metal bar running down the wall (see screenshots 1 & 2 below). This metal bar is the key to this trick. You need to Space Jump towards it, facing the door you just came through as much as possible (i.e. turn in the air about 120 degrees) and push yourself against the metal bar.

VERY quickly, morph and hold up+left on the joystick until told otherwise!. This is essential to do, to make the trick work. You'll fall down, but you'll land on one of the Oculus's that circle the bombable spiderblocks. As it's about to move right, lay a bomb. While still holding up+left on the joystick, you'll ascend up the wall slower than a normal bomb jump would normally make you go up. This slower ascension speed means the bomb stock gets a chance to refill, essentially giving us an "infinite" bomb jump.

So, once you've laid the first bomb, lay the second bomb just after the first bomb explodes. You'll fall back down and onto bomb 2 as it explodes. Place bomb 3 just after bomb 2's explosion and so on. However, there's no exact timing for this as your rate of falling can vary slightly. So you need to practice it to get a general "feel" for the timing.

Hit the Octulus to Stop Your Fall Start Bomb Jumping Back up The Timing isn't always the same Keep the Concentration

Now, as soon as you reach the near the rim where the Spiderball track ends, this is where the really tough bit of the trick occurs. The very final bomb before un-morphing should be set at about the same height as the bottom of the door (any higher, and you'll not un-morph correctly and do a "bad un-morph"). Once this bomb has been laid, change the controller direction from up+left to up+right. As soon as you are bombed back up in this direction, un-morph near the peak of the movement upwards and you'll land back onto the ground in front of the door. (See screenshots 7,8 and 9).

To see the trick in action (a better way to see what I mean about the timing of everything), save or watch the movie below.
