The Ghetto Jump

The "Ghetto Jump" (christened by Kip, one of the worlds finest - and fastest Metroid Prime players on the planet) is the result of much experimentation and messing around. Normally, when Space Jumping, you get a set height. A maximum possible. But now it's possible to extend this height somewhat more when you perform a Ghetto Jump (sometimes up to the equivalent of an extra jump in height more!).

To perform a Ghetto Jump, simply press yourself up against a wall and hold forward. Now, press Jump once and as you press jump the second time, press any other direction (backwards, left, up+right etc) and then go forwards again to your destination. It's quite similar in many instances to a question mark in shape (but without the dot at the bottom).

In fact... here's a - VERY poorly "drawn" - MS Paint diagram of the process from a side-on perspective! You get the idea from it. really you do!... Shut it.

EXTREMLY bad drawing of the Ghetto Jump Motion Path

If you collect the Space Jump boots as the first item in the game, the first place you'd need to perform this trick, is in the Main Plaza of Chozo Ruins to obtain the missile expansion in the half-pipe

This jumping method is quite versatile as you can move around quite a lot on the 2nd jump. This trick is required quite a bit in speed running and sequence breaking (and is essential when attempting to get the artifact of Livegiver (under the Temple of Light) without the Gravity Suit
