Metroid Prime Speed Run Videos

Below are the direct links to the best run for each category. The movies are brilliantly hosted on Archive.org so you should all pay this wonderful free site a visit. Special thanks also go to both Nate of Metroid2002.com and also to Radix of Speed Demo Archive (SDA) for converting the runs from VHS to a digital format. ALL of these movies requires the latest version of DivX to play properly.

Any% Run - 1hr 04Mins by Kip
Pure scan-dashing beauty. Kip's latest World Record run defies all game logic and smashes the game wide open. With just 5 minutes from a sub hour run, Kip has once again astounded everyone with a speed run of pure class and skill. Kip's insistence with perfection shows through in virtually every second as he completes the game with just 2 energy tanks. With so many new and updated sequence breaks, be prepared to be left picking your jaw up off of the floor. A modern day masterpiece.

PAL Any% Run - 1hr 09Mins by Stefan van Dijke
An immensely fast run of the version that I also play. The PAL version has a few disabilities with regards to sequence breaking and in turn speed runs, which is clearly visible in the time differences between the NTSC and PAL versions of Prime. Stefan van Dijke has knocked up a stonking PAL WR time ustilizing virtually all of the best PAL specific tricks in the book, including the newer SJ First method. WELL worth watching, if only to see how the PAL version can differ to the NTSC version. This run beats Pirate109's previous PAL WR by 2 mins.

PAL 100% Run - 1hr 30Mins by Pirate109
A work of art. A mere 2 minutes slower than the US version run by Sparky, the "handicapped" PAL version has shown what it is capable of. With a barrage of the most recent speed tricks (a fair few of which I hadn't even seen before), this run is captivating and very much awe inspiring at the same time. A collabiration of ideas and effort, resulting in a run that will leave you speechless. WELL worth the download. Congrats Pirate, keep flying that PAL flag high.

100% Run - 1hr 28Mins by Sparky
The latest 100% run and pretty much the most optimized also. Replacing Kip at the top of the tree for this category, the ever talented Prime runner Sparky has pulled out ALL the stops to produce a run that just boggles the mind and then throws it into a blender for good effect. A great run to watch for all the latest MP tricks...

22% Normal Speed Run - 1hr 18Mins by Trebor
If recording the really difficult 22% run wasn't enough, Trebor spent a whopping 10 months working on a speed run version of it. Speed run without the boost ball!? Utilising the scan dash trick to it's limits, Trebor whips through it with ease and makes the stupidly hard Geo trick look like a piece of cake. An essential run to watch for any proclaimed MP fan. Well done indeed Trebor.

Frigate Escape Run - 4.29:27 Remaining by TRH
The current spate for the fastest escape time has currently culminated with TRH grabbing the top spot over Kip with his mighty 4.29:27 remaining. Not very many people compete for the fastest escape time, but it's a very hotly contested record to own for those that do. Congrats to TRH on such a sterling time.
