Korrupting Metroid Prime - The Glitches

Meta-Ridley Doubletake
One of the first times you'll notice the game go screwy is when you enter Phendrana for the very first time. After the cut-scene ends, you can hear Meta-Ridley's wings flapping and as soon as you get to the top level (on your way to the Boostball), the Meta-Ridley passing over scene will play (as what normally happens after collecting the boostball). Now, when you enter the door here you should see 3 pulse bombu's. Instead you'll either see an Adult Sheegoth or an Adult Sheegoth and 2 baby sheegoths together! The next couple of rooms are also messed up. On the way back, the Meta-Ridley cut-scene will play for a 2nd (and final) time when you reach shorelines again. Download the clip of this in action below:

Empty Chapel Of The Elders
Normally, this room and it's access room have enemies in them. However, not when the save file is corrupted there'll not be! Both rooms (COTE and COTE Access) have 0 enemies in it.

More Phendrana Shennanigans
When you reach the room before Frost Cave, you'll notice that an Ice Burrower is right in front of the ice tunnel you must bomb jump into and roll through. At the other side, there's also an ice burrower here and the little black scarribs walk all around the wrong place. In frost cave, the Hunter Metroid is there along with the 2 flying pirates that usually only show up to replace the Hunter Metroid.

Elite Pirate In Phendrana!
Probably one of the funniest and down right bizarre glitches, is when you enter the Research Lab from Ruined Courtyard. There's a fully functional Elite Pirate in the room! He can walk around fine, but will get stuck when approaching the walkway beside it. The room will also be already pitch black and full of annoying Shadow Pirates.

No Thermal Visor or Spiderball 4 j00!
The game decides that you no longer need the Thermal visor so loads the room state where it's not even there! This means you must be proficient at finishing the game without it (not difficult). The game also doesn't load up Thardus (regardless of the entrance you use) and replaces him with the rather useless Adult Sheegoth.

No Thermal Visor 4 j00! (892k)

Starting A Game On The Elevator!
Quite a wierd one this, as it would indicate that Retro were maybe toying with the idea of allowing players to start save files from the game's elevators. This glitch happened when I was originally saved in Central Dynamo after collecting the Main Powerbombs. When the game corrupted the save and I reloaded the save file, the game starts me off at the front Phazon Mine's elevator. Which is strange.

Phazon Mines Save Corruption (2.07 Megs)

Phazon Mines Krazyness
The Phazon Mines seems to be messed around as well, with stuff like Turrets not being in rooms they're supposed to be, and Metroids replacing troopers (such as in Omega Research and in the room with the Metroids behind the forcefield). Speaking of which, in the latter room, you can in fact now bring the Metroid's THROUGH the forcefield by letting them attack you from behind it, and they'll attach onto you and pass through!

Phazon Mines Crazyness - Clip 3 (1.43 Megs)

No doubt there are many more nutty things waiting to be found in this game after you corrupt the save. I'd imagine that Omega Pirate will also NOT be there, preventing you from collecting the Phazon Suit and thus be unable to beat MP. But I've yet to test that out. Keep your eyes here for more additions to this kerazy saga...
